30 Day Makeover

I found this a LONG time ago (about 2 1/2 years actually), and tried out most of the tips with pleasant results!  I found some great make-at-home beauty recipes and "green" tips throughout the 30 days.  So take a peek at this DIY 30 Day Makeover HERE.

Then go HERE and lets work on our inner beauty and relationship with Jesus for this whole month of January too with Awake21!  I posted about it last year here, and absolutely loved it!  What a great way to start a fresh, new year!  They will have another online conference like they did last year, awesome messages at your fingertips each day of the 21 days of Prayer and Fasting. Get more conference info here.

Let me know what you think!!

Cleaning Up...

Can you believe Christmas is over?!  I pray you had wonderful memories with friends and family.  I know one thing that is always waiting for you when the holidays are finished...cleaning!  I thought this would be a good time to share some cool products that will help you get your cleaning done without any harmful chemicals!

Kiwi Magazine did a poll of more than 1,000 of it’s readers this year and "the people" voted these cleaners as the top green cleaners in more than 24 categories…I’ll tell you which ones I’ve tried and like.

KITCHEN:
Dish Soap: Seventh Generation (my favorite too – I love the lavander mint scent)
Dishwashing Liquid: Seventh Generation (I haven’t used this yet)
Dishwasher Powder: Seventh Generation (I tried this once, and it wasn’t bad but I’m not a big powder fan)
Dishwasher Pellets: Seventh Generation (I tried a box of these discounted, and they worked good, but also not a huge fan of the little packets)
Dishwasher Rinsing Agent: Seventh Generation – I think they stole the show in the kitchen! (I just use white vinegar and it works great!)
Oven Cleaner: Nature Clean (I’ve never tried or even heard of this – if you have, leave a comment and share your thoughts)
Countertop Cleaner: Method (I love method, but I actually use the #2 product: Mrs. Meyers Kitchen Countertop Cleaner – LOVE it!)
Stainless Steel Cleaner: Earth Friendly Products (never tried, don’t own a ss cleaner actually)

BATHROOM:
Tub and Tile Cleaner: Seventh Generation (surprise!)
Glass Cleaner: Seventh Generation
Toilet Bowl Cleaner: Green Works (I actually use Seventh Generation for this, haha)

FLOOR and FURNITURE:
Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner: Simple Green Naturals (never heard of this, but Biokleen is #2 and that’s what I use)
Hardwood and Linoleum Cleaner: Method
Wood and Furniture Polish: Method (JRWatkins Naturals was on the list too – I’d like to try that!)

LAUNDRY:
Liquid or Powder Detergent: Can you guess?? Seventh Generation (I like, but it’s a bit pricey)
Whitening Detergent: Green Works (I also use vinegar)
Fabric Softener: Seventh Generation (I use vinegar for this as well)
Dryer Sheets: Seventh Generation (my FAVORITE is Method)
Baby Laundry Detergent: Seventh Generation (as well as BabyGanics, Earth Friendly Products, and Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day)
Stain Remover: Green Works

ALL PURPOSE:
Wipes: Seventh Generation
Spray: Seventh Generation (I prefer the Unscented)
Gel/Cream/Powder: 20 Mule Team Borax (I’ve also used this in recipes to create dishwashing detergent and toilet bowl cleaners)
Air Freshener: Citrus Magic (I honestly can’t stand that scent anymore so I use BabyGanics pump air freshner and LOVE it!)

Here is a previous post of all my personal favorite cleaning products!  It feels good to know that when you’re cleaning up after all the holiday parties you’re not filling your home with nasty chemicals!  What are some of your favorite cleaning products or homemade recipes?

Merry Christmas from GGW!

It's been a little quiet around here on GGW, and incredibly busy everywhere else in life!  We've had a wonderful time this month celebrating birthdays and getting ready for Christmas...lots of memories, snowflake making, ornament decorating, present wrapping, parties with friends and family, holiday music and movies galore!  It's almost time to focus on getting ready for this little lady's arrival!!!
Since we are only 3 weeks away from our due date, I thought I'd give you a heads up that I will be a tad irregular in my blogging (duh). =)  But I love that you take the time to stop over and read so I'm going to give little snippets of some of my favorite sites and places on the web for you to check out and get some good advice, recipes, uplifting stories, going green ideas/resources, deals, coupons and more.  I hope you enjoy some of my favorite places and keep checking back for updates in our life.  Thanks for your love and support and Happy Holidays!!!

Green Reminder

I love Destiny in Bloom (an Online Women's Magazine) and have talked about them before.  But they just got even better!  They posted an article in November on Healthy Beauty which had some great recipes, tips and most of all a huge reminder to me!  I was just about to set out on a bathroom stock-up store run (soap, shampoos, etc.) and this article reminded me to "stay the course" and find healthier options, even when it's not convenient.  Check it out for some great info and while you're there take a look around, their Online Magazine is FILLED with awesome articles!

December is Here!

Yay!  I love this month...my favorite month of the whole year, and not just because I was born in it.  Something is just so magical about this wintry month, don't you think?  I have always felt that after January 1st something is different.  We may still drive by the beautiful homes and all their lights, sip cocoa and snuggle by a fire, but it's not the same to me.
So to kick off the 1st of December we decided to add a little crafty touch to our home decor.  The girls and I and a sweet friend made some beautiful snowflakes and hung them in front of a few of our windows.  The sad thing is I couldn't remember how to fold the paper and what exactly to do so I had to google it.  (don't laugh!).
Well here are some great instructions if you'd like to check them out yourself: Martha Stewart knows Snowflakes.

Here is how some of ours turned out: (sorry the lighting was a bit dark)
