April: REST

It feels like too long since I've been able to sit down and write or even sit and think!  We are getting close to the final move-in date on our new home which just adds extra pressure...so we are tired, but excited!
That feeling of excitement mixed with exhaustion (and maybe God whispering to my spirit) is what gave me the inspiration of focusing this month on REST.
Rest: Cessation of work, exertion, or activity; Peace; Ease; Refreshment; Relief or freedom from disquiet or disturbance; Mental or emtional tranquility.  (sounds amazing right?!)
“Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. 13 You have six days each week for your ordinary work, 14 but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God." - Deuteronomy 5:12-14 NLT
Last month was a focus on courage.  I felt great about the progress I made in facing some of my fears (big and small) and I really tried to apply the scriptures, and all my studies on courage to my life, each day.  So in preparation for this month (even though we are a few days in), I am going to start (yet) another Bible Reading Plan at YouVersion.com - 21-Day Plan for Busy Women: A Rich and Satisfying Life!
Rest is not just sleeping at least 7 hours a night (which is VERY important for so many reasons), but also quieting our minds enough to study, and allow God's Word to "wash us." (Eph.5:25b-26)  So I have been challenging myself to wake up early enough to have my time with Jesus before my kids get up.  If you can't do that and still get in a good nights sleep or power nap, than find what works for you - a time of day where you can put up the cell phone, facebook and twitter, grab a cup of tea and delve into the Word and let it transform you into a woman who can live a "rich and satisfying life!" (Rom12:2)
This week (next 7 days) I am going to focus on continuing my quiet times early, doing my reading plan and journaling each morning (it's not the same when I'm not journaling)!
Also I am going to focus on getting to bed at a decent time each night, and when I can't I will plan a good power nap (see link above) for the next day!
Feel free to join me and look for next week's challenge on Monday...=)
